A new Dissertation Council was opened at Lobachevsky University in November 2023. The Council was established by the order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation to confer academic degrees of Candidate of Sciences and Doctor of Sciences in the fields:

• 5.12.2. Interdisciplinary Brain Research (biological sciences),
• 5.12.4. Cognitive Modelling (physical and mathematical sciences).

Vladimir Antonets, Doctor of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics), Professor at the Department of Psychophysiology, UNN Faculty of Social Sciences, was appointed the Chairman of the Council.

The new Dissertation Council will contribute to the development of cognitive sciences in the region.  It will be an important institution for certification of highly qualified academic staff, concentrating this type of activities in one of Russia’s leading classical universities that has extensive experience and traditions of research and training in this field of science.
