On May 18, Governor of the Nizhni Novgorod region Valery Shantsev and Chief Federal Inspector for the Nizhni Novgorod region Alexander Murzin awarded certificates to young researchers, winners of the 2017 contest for state support of Russian scientists. The award ceremony took place at Lobachevsky University. This year, following the results of the All-Russian competition, 16 talented young researchers and representatives of the Nizhni Novgorod scientific schools  were awarded presidential grants. According to the rules of the contest, the winners holding a Candidate of Sciences degree receive a grant in the amount of 600 thousand roubles a year, and those holding the Doctor of Sciences degree get 1 million roubles a year.  Award-winning research projects  cover a wide range of topics in physics, biology, medicine, and chemistry.
