Nizhny Novgorod (formerly in the Soviet era – the city Gorky) is located 400 kilometers to the east from Moscow. It is the capital of the Volga Federal District with a population of more than 1.3 million people. Founded in 1221, the city is the closest megalopolis to Moscow and one of the main cultural, historical and industrial centers of Russia.
